Differences between all Video Formats

Labels: , , , , , , , , , ,

CAM
The CAM is a "rip" made in the movies, normally with a digital camera. Sometimes it is used a tripod, but usually that is not possible, leaving the filming trembled. Due to the available places in the movies also will not be always in the center, can be filmed with different angles. If it cut (cropped) adequately, is difficult differentiate, to be not that have legends in the screen, but many times the CAM are left with black borders in the part of top and below the screen. The sound is recorded with the microphone inserted of the camera and, specially in comedies, laughs are heard during the film. Due to those factors, the quality of sound and image are going to be very bad, but some times, with luck, the movies is barely empty and barely short noises will be ears.

TELESYNC (TS)
A telesync has the same characteristics of a CAM, alone that uses an external spring of audio (normally a phone of ear in the armchair for persons that do not hear well). A spring of straight audio does not guarantee a good quality of audio, therefore many noises can interfere. Many times a telesync is filmed in an empty movies or of the cabin of projection with a professional camera, generating a better quality of image. The quality varies very, by that see a sample before of lower the film completely. Most of the Telesyncs are CAMs that were labeled of wrong form.

TELECINE (TC)
A machine of telecine copies the film digital of the rolls. The sound and the image are going to be very good, but due to the equipment and costs involved, the telecine are very rare. Generally the film will be with the aspect ratio (proportion) correct, despite of will exist telecine of 4:3 (full screen). TC should not be confused with TimeCode, that is a visible counter and I fix during all the film.

R5
R5 refers to a specific format of DVD region 5. In an effort for compete with the piracy, the industry decided to create that new format that is produced more quick and more cheap than the traditional DVDs. What differs them of the DVDs traditional is that the R5 are tranferidos straightly of a telecine without any image processing kind, and without no additional one. That permits that the film arrive in the shops at the same time that the DVDs screeners are liberated. Sometimes the DVDs R5 are thrown without audio in English, requiring that the groups of piracy use the audio of another one spring. In that case the release I possessed the description “.LINE" for distinguish of those that possess the audio of the original one.

The quality of the image of a R5 generally can be compared with a DVD screener. The quality is better that of the Telecines because in case of the R5 is used professional equipment.

Formerly the R5 were called of Telecines, DVCD screeners or to same DVD rips. In the end of 2006 some groups as the DREAMLIGHT, mSs and PUKKA passed it nominate his Releases of “.R5" and suggested to others groups that did the even.

SCREENER (SCR)
A tape prior VHS, sent for rental agencies and several others places, for promotional use. A screener is supplied of a tape VHS and normally in 4:3 (full screen), despite of some screener with black streaks already will have been thrown. To bigger disadvantage is a "ticker" (a message that appears in the breaks below the screen with the copyright and a telephone anti-piracy). Beyond that, if the tape will have some number of series, or any another one marks that can denounce the origin of the tape, those will have of be hidden, normally with a black streak in top. That is going to last barely some seconds, but unfortunately, in some copies, hard the some and entire film can be well big. Depending on the equipment used, the quality of the screener can vary of excellent will go deed of a copy MASTER, to very bad will go deed in an old equipment with a bad copy of the tape. The majority of the screener are past for the VCD, but already had attempts in SVCD. Screener, generally, also indicates any one of the kinds above. (quality more drops)

DVD-SCREENER (DVDscr)
Same conditions of the screener, but with a spring of DVD. Normally with letterbox (black streaks), but without the extras that the final DVD (of sale and/or rent) can have. The ticker does not use to stayed in the black streaks, and can confuse the vision. If the "riper" will have the minimum of knowledge, a DVDscr should end very good. Normally past for the SVCD or DivX/XviD.

DVDRip
A copy of the final launching of the DVD. If possible, it's uploaded to the internet before even of the DVD of sale and/or rent to be thrown. The quality should be excellent. DVDrips are thrown in SVCD and DivX/XviD.

PDTV/HDTV
The PDTV are captured of a TV with card DIGITAL PCI, normally generating the best results. Many times we see the rip labeled like HDTV also, but the differences between those two barely technical Saints. The groups are going to throw in SVCD, despite of rips in VCD/SVCD/DivX/XviD will be accepted us rips of TV.

Some WPs are unlike the final version (Men in Black is lacking all of the aliens and has extras in his places) and some has extra scenes (Jay and Silent Bob). WPs can be good acquisitions for the collection since already have in hands the final version.

PDVDs are to same thing, but positions in a DVD. They have legends to the breaks, and the quality usually is better that the silvers. VCD' s and SVCD' s are timed us minutes and not in MB, like this that to the look a, look bigger than the capacity of disk and in the reality power fits 74min in a CDR74.

XVCD / XSVCD
These they are basically VCD/SVCD improved. They are both capable of definitions and of better rates, a lot more elevated. Very difficult of it be found.
